Journey Into Space was originally aired in 1958 and was a science fiction program. The intended audience was families with kids. Mainly for boys but I feel like girls and parents would enjoy the series as well. This program reminds me of when I was a kid and listened to Odyssey on Family Life Radio. The ability to create what's happening is so much better than watching a movie or tv show where it is all created for you. The sound effects make the show much more believable. These sound effects and the non narrative style of show allowed for listeners to be more intrigued by the show as each character played their part without a narrator talking about what was happening. So listening to the show with having no video is nice but does drop the hearing impaired from their base. The move to tv allowed for us to use more than one sensory to create the environment but we also lost the ability to be creative.
