After going through the different radio programs available, I found a news broadcast from the closing months of WWII and it was basically an account of events that have happened in the week as it aired on a Sunday, presented by Walter Winchell. It appears that he is a New York correspondent for a San Francisco news station, and he airs his program once per week highlighting events of that week.
The news channel broadcasted this particular episode on April 22nd 1945, and it was intended to let the general public aware of what is going on around the nation of America and the world, but more importantly, what is happening in the European and Pacific Theaters of war in World War 2. It seems that Mr. Winchell is on the level with the audience that he is presenting judging by some of the comments he uses as he announces different news bulletins. It was interesting to listen to what was broadcast towards the end of the war, looking back from today. I thought that the presenter was quite amusing with the fact that he would also give his thoughts on whatever the topic is, there was some personal feeling from him, which is something that cannot be done so easily on radio today.
There are some advantages and disadvantages with this news program though, the advantages would be that the information is broadcasted quicker and the broadcasting itself is better than a newspaper for instance. The disadvantages of this broadcast would be that the broadcast is only once per week, and it would only benefit those who own a radio at the time.
